Let me know if this sounds familiar. You’re in a ton of FB Groups and let’s be honest- you spend a bit of time in there. It’s just so damn interesting reading posts, seeing what challenges other people are having and what they’ve got on the go in their biz!
But sometimes being in Facebook Groups has a big downside. It can make you feel like you’re just not good enough. Other people seem to be doing so well and you’re just not. there. yet.
You know you’re spending time in these groups to feel less isolated and more supported- but that time is taking away from progress in your own business. You feel more overwhelm and more confusion about your own path forward.
Well ladies, it’s the start of a new year and I’m telling you now this a great opportunity to change that record!
If you want to get more exposure for your biz in 2018 and grow an engaged audience who wants to buy from you then listen in.
Because Facebook Groups are a golden opportunity to do just that. And with a simple strategy and a bit of support, you’ll be amazed at what you can do.
So here it is, drumroll please… introducing…
The Anchor Butter Ad Campaign Facebook Group Strategy (haha so succinct right?!)
Those of you in the urghmmm… older age bracket might remember the Anchor butter ads that took NZ by storm in the 1990’s.
Instead of pushing butter in. our. faces, Anchor told a story that truly resonated with their audience of NZ families. It was the story of a young family with parents who were going through a divorce, and the impact that had on their young daughter.
It had sad moments that resonated and happy moments that gave us hope. And guess what? Some of those happy moments were times around the kitchen table. A warm smile, good food and of course, Anchor butter in the shot.
So in one simple, heart felt campaign, Anchor showed NZ'ers that they get it.
They know what family life is like. They know we all have ups and downs. And that- that makes us like Anchor. Look at me- talking about them some ummm... 20 years or so after the fact!
Now one of the biggest mistakes I see women in business making online is what I like to call the ‘link drop and run.’
The mindset is a little bit like this:
Wow here’s a Facebook group of 10,000 NZ women. Awesome! I’ll go in and post about my business and share a link to my FB page/ website etc. Free promo wohoo!
There is a HUGE problem with this.
People don’t care about your product (sorry). They’re probably not in the market to buy a ‘widget’ right now so they simply scroll on past your post.
Here’s the thing. People care about YOU.
You are an incredible NZ woman in business. People want to support small business. People want to support women in business.
So help them. Give them a way to get to know you. They want to know the story behind your brand. They want to know why you’re doing what you do, what you and your brand believe in and the difference you want to make in the world.
And if they get to know you, and if your story resonates, THEN they will remember your brand. Then they will recommend your brand.
Because they understand it- they understand you, they understand your values and they understand that hey- you share some of the same values as them. You get them. So they trust you. And guess what? They want to buy from you- instead of someone else- when that magical time comes.
So, my action strategy is this. Create your own Anchor butter ad campaign.
Don’t link drop. Instead, get creative and tell a story. Why not do a three part series. It might look something like this:
Ad 1/ Week 1:
Intro and grab the attention of your audience. For example, talk about the early stage of your journey, what shaped your values and why it led you to doing what you do. Add a photo of yourself-something that engages your audience. Michelle from Michelle Yandle Nutrition Coaching did a great job with this for her VIP Marketday post here:
OR- drop some crazy value to your audience that makes them sit up and pay attention. Give them a tip or do a live training video. Check out how I did that here (note that this was on my FB page not in my group but same goes same goes there):
Ad 2/ Week 2:
Build awareness and interest in your product. Speak to your target audiences fears and desires. Paula Melville from Integral Massage did this here:
Ad 3/ Week 3:
Build readiness. Tell people about some amazing feedback you’ve had. Or share a customer testimonial and how you’re feeling about it. Check out how Monique from Dressing Up used this technique here:
** NOTE** For this to work...
- Yes you have to be mentally prepared to up your game and get your face and your story out there
- Yes you have to be clever with your copy and spend time crafting something that resonates
- Yes you have to include clear calls to action with your post so that people actually interact and know what next step to take
And yes, it takes time.
But ladies, these are literally FREE advertising opportunities. To get yourself in front of these large audiences is just gold for your business. Please don’t take it for granted!
